Tottenham gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has finally landed a title for himself after being named manager of the year at London Football Awards on Thursday night, February 28.

Since the Argentine football manager took over at Tottenham, he has never won a trophy and has been criticized by football fans and pundits.

The 46-year-old year now has something to smile with even though the expectation of many will be for him to win either the Premier League, Champions League or FA Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino received the award from Spurs legend Ossie Ardiles at the fifth annual London Football Awards at Battersea Evolution.

He beat embattled Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri to the award on Thursday night, February 28.

“Again we're going to have the debate whether a trophy will take the club to the next level.

"I don't agree with it. It only builds your ego. The most important thing for Tottenham right now is to always be in the top four,'' Pochettino explained according to UK Sun.

Tottenham are currently occupying third position on the Premier League standings with 60 points after 28 games played this season.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Tottenham gaffer Mauricio Pochettino played down reports linking him with a move to Manchester United as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have earmarked the Argentine as first choice to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should they fail to secure Champions League football next season.
