Political thugs threaten voters, stab ward chairman in Delta

Suspected political thugs have reportedly stabbed Vincent Egbogbo, ward chairman of one of the rival political parties in Oleh Ward 1, Isoko South local government area , Delta state.

According to Vanguard report, Egbogbo was stabbed at Oleh Ward 1, Unit 7 in Egide Street, Oleh.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a stalwart of one of the parties in the area accused their rival political party of masterminding the attack in the area.

"A group of thugs were driving from one polling unit to another threatening voters that those that will not vote for their party should leave the polling center.

“So, the Ward chairman told them to stop intimidating voters, which resulted to the attack," he said.

According to the party stalwart, Egbogbo has been taken to a hospital in the area where he is receiving treatment.

There have been reports of violence across different polling units participating in the March 9 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

In Lagos, a suspected supporter of the PDP threatened to stab an agent of the APC at the polling unit 19, Okunnu, Lateef Jakande road, Eti-Osa local government area.

In Benue, hoodlums burnt all electoral materials for Mbalom ward in Gwer east local government area in the early hours of Saturday, March 9.

According to a witness, the hoodlums on arrival fired shots in the air before setting on fire the RCM Primary School Aya, housing the materials.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
