Oba of Benin reacts to President Buhari's re-election

- Oba Ewuare II of Benin has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election

- In his congratulatory message, the prominent Nigerian monarch said he believed the president would continue his good work

- President Buhari won the Saturday, February 23 presidential election having polled over 15 million votes

The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, says President Buhari will improve on his achievements during his second tenure.

This is contained in a congratulatory letter sent to Buhari on his re-election by the Benin monarch and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, March 4, in Benin.

Legit.ng gathers that the monarch congratulated the president on behalf of the Benin royal family, the members of the Edo council of traditional rulers and chiefs, as well as the entire people of the state.

Oba said: “I have no doubt that your excellency will further improve on the good works which you have carried out since your administration came into being in 2015.

“We pray to Almighty God to continue to give you good health, wisdom and the wherewithal to steer the ship of the nation to the next level. Once again congratulation, your excellency."

Buhari was announced winner of the February 23 presidential election. He defeated his main challenger Atiku Abubakar of the PDP with over three million votes.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states had congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari over his re-election.

The northern CAN, in a letter to President Buhari dated Friday, March 1, said Buhari’s victory showed his uprightness and transparency in governance.
