- The woman, Adenike Macaulay, is an engineer who graduate from the University of Lagos state

- Macaulay is a general manager at Germany's largest airline and one of the largest in Europe

A Nigerian woman has broken a huge barrier after she became the first female Nigerian general manager at Lufthansa Airline. The woman identified as Adenike Macaulay was appointed as general manager sales for Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.

Macaulay is a graduate of systems engineering from the University of Lagos state. She graduated the university in 2007, and holds a diploma in digital marketing from Ireland Digital Marketing school.

The woman rose up to great heights by working extremely hard. She began her career as a business analyst at the airline in 2009. She was responsible for West Africa regional results, analysis and sales planning.

After a year, Macaulay became the regional marketing manager for West and Central Africa. In 2015, she achieved the position of senior manager, customer products and marketing, operating in sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2017, she became head sales, products and programs, and became responsible for the development and optimization of sales products, B2B incentive programs, sales promotions and sales service processes, across the Sub-Sahara Africa region.

Now as the general manager sales, she would be responsible for all the commercial and sales activities of the Lufthansa Group Airlines in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
