Man United legend reveals who he wants to win Premier League title between Liverpool and Man City

- Rio Ferdinand backs Manchester City to win this season's Premier League title

- The Man United legend won six titles during his 12 year reign at Old Trafford

- Ferdinand admits he would rather prefer the Citizens to win the title ahead of Liverpool

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed city rivals Manchester City to win the Premier League title at the end of this season.

The Citizens are currently second on the log with 74 points after 30 matches - two points behind Liverpool with one match in hand.

And they are few matches away from winning the silverware back to back for the first time after the Red Devils who won it three times on a bounce from 2006-07 to 2008-09.

And the 40-year-old, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford with six English topflight titles admit he prefers their city rivals to lift this campaign.

United are presently fifth on the log at the moment with 58 points, just two points behind Arsenal with less than ten matches to wrap up this term.

"This is the worst possible case scenario for someone that likes Man United, supports Man United and has played for Man United, and I'm a pundit that's got to speak about it publicly and squirm and what not," Ferdinand told The Daily Mirror.

"So the better of the two evils is Manchester City winning the league as I've seen it, I've been part of it"

Ferdinand also admitted that Liverpool winning the would be 'a lot more painful', claiming even more fans would pop up simply to gloat about winning the title.

He added: 'With Liverpool it's a different story.

'There's fans I didn't even know supported Liverpool that have come back out of the woodwork after 20 years of being silent that are starting to speak before they've won anything so it'd be a lot more painful to see them win the league.

"But listen the best team will win it and whoever that is well done."

Legit.ng earlier reported that Rio Ferdinand has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a "living god" following his heroics in Juventus Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

The Bianconeri needed to overturn the two-goal deficit in the first leg suffered at the hands of Diego Simeone's side at Wanda Metropolitano.

And Juve's talisman Ronaldo responded with three unreplied goals in emphatic fashion making it eight hat-tricks in his Champions League 126-goal tally.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

A former Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Agency, Buba Galadima, has accused the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria of witch-hunt after the agency took possession of his business and assets on Tuesday in Abuja. Galadima, an ardent critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, claimed that he did not borrow money or have unpaid debt with Unity Bank, which lodged a complaint against him and occasioned AMCON’s move on Tuesday. The properties taken over include House No. 15, Addis Ababa Crescent, Wuse Zone 4, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and House No. 4, Bangui Street, Wuse 2, also in Abuja.  Reacting to the situation, Galadima said, “This is an attempt to disgrace and break me down. This is injustice and an attempt to humiliate me. "But I am unbreakable and they can never silence me. They sacked me and over 50 people that sleep in the apartment. "We don’t know where to go.
