Jimi Agbaje defected only in the imagination of rumour peddlers - PDP denies claim

- Claims that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje, dumped the party have been referred to as rumour and fallacy

- The PDP in response to the claim said that Agbaje's defection only happened in the imagination of rumour peddlers

- Moreover, the state secretary of the party, Prince Muiz Dosumu, said that the leadership of the party is making moves to ensure internal peace

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on wednesday, March 20, denied and dismissed claims and reports that Jimi Agbaje, its governorship candidate in Lagos, has denounced his membership of the party, The Guardian reports.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 20, Prince Muiz Dosumu, the state secretary of the party, said: “This is to disclaim the rumour going around, that our governorship candidate, Mr Olujimi Agbaje, has left the PDP.

"This is an absolute fallacy and could only have happened in the imagination of the rumour peddler.”

Moreover Dosumu made mention of the fact that the PDP's leadership in the state “has embarked on serious peace initiative to foster unity in the party.”

“We cannot afford to start again as we usually do, battles after every election, till another one. Please help foster unity and peace in the party and not another war.”

A former minister of aviation, Fani-Kayode also said that Agbaje confirmed to him that he is still a member of the party.

The former minister said: “I just received a call from my brother Jimi Agbaje. He assured me that he has not left @OfficialPDPNig and that the media reports were false.

“My brother Gbenga Daniel also reached me and assured me that though he has left PDP he has not joined @OfficialAPCNg.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Agbaje had called on members of the public to discard reports that he has quit the party.

Agbaje, in a statement by his spokesperson, Modupe Ogunbayo, stated that he remained a member of the PDP.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
