Following the tragic death of a Nigerian professor, Pius Adesanmi, in the ill-fated Boeing 737-800 MAX plane crash belonging to Ethiopian Airline on March 10, many people have taken to social media to mourn.
The death of Adesanmi; a Canada-based scholar, has been described as a terrible loss to the literary world. It is in this light that a candlelight gathering has been organized in Abuja.
A Twitter user shared the post and it reads: "Fellow Nigerians, Please, join us on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 for a Candlelight Gathering at the Unity Fountain, Abuja by 4:00PM. This will be the first of a 7days event and more in commemoration of our dear Prof. Pius Adesanmi. May his soul Rest In Peace.#RIPPiusAdesanmi

Up until his death, Pius Adesanmi was the director at the Institute of African Studies (IAS) at Carleton University in Canada. He left behind a wife and a little daughter.
Meanwhile, it was a blessing in disguise for Kenyan Ahmed Khalid to miss an Ethiopian Airlines flight bound for Nairobi from Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, on Sunday, March 10.
The plane Khalid was bound to fly in crashed approximately six minutes after take off killing all 157 passengers and crew on board.
