Don't not allow selfish people to hijack National Assembly - Rep-elect urges Buhari

- President Buhari has been asked to guide the APC in the selection of the 9th assembly leadership

- According to Ahmed Manir, the president should not allow selfish people to hijack the National Assembly as they did in 2015

- Manir said it obvious APC would have the majority at the Senate and House of Representatives

Ahmed Manir, a newly elected House of Representatives member for Lere federal constituency, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to guide the APC in the selection the 9th assembly leadership.

Daily Trust reports Manir who contested under the platform of APC and was declared the winner of the Lere federal constituency seat in Kaduna state by the INEC made the call on Thursday, February 28.

He maintained that President Buhari should not allow “selfish people to hijack the National Assembly as they did in 2015.”

The new legislator disclosed that it was already confirmed that APC would have the majority at the Senate and House of Representatives due to the results released by the commission.

He said: “This makes it easier for the party leadership to avoid the mess of 2015 where some people for their selfish interest held the legislature to ransom.”

Recalled that after the just concluded elections, 64 presently serving senators and 151 members of the House of Representatives would not be returning to their seats in the next 9th National Assembly.

Only 209 members of the House and 45 senators will be retaining their seats going by the election result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Also, 42 of the 64 senators that would not be returning lost out at their primaries since October 2018, while the other 22 suffered defeat at the just concluded general election.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
