The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state, Chief Great Ogboru, has urged Deltans to hold him accountable if he fails to deliver as governor.

Ogboru made the pledge on Wednesday, February 6, during the APC campaign rally at Ndokwa east and Ndokwa west local council areas of the state, Guardian reports.

He commended the Ndokwa people for being firm to his aspirations over the years, adding: “The time has come for Ndokwa nation to enjoy the dividends of democracy, where development will be spread to all the nooks and crannies of the state. We have so many graduates in the state, but no job opportunities.”

He lamented that the situation has perpetually affected the youths, promising that with the new Delta, all that would stop once he assumes office as governor.

Ogboru said Ndokwa east and west local council areas are known for business, but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government has abandoned them.

He promised that funds will be allocated directly to local governments if he is elected governor, and the people would decide what and how to utilise the funds for speedy transformation of their areas.

“I will not deceive you as a governor, because I will not tell you what I can not do. So we must start the process by re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari, Hon. Doris Uboh for Delta south, Paul Odili for Ndokwa House of Representatives, and Emeka Ozegbe for Ndokwa state House of Assembly,” he said.

APC chairman in the state, Jones Erue, said with Ogboru as governor, there will community development in the new Delta, where everybody would be involved in governance.

Meanwhile, Ogboru's opponent and incumbent governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has urged Nigerians to elect capable people into office in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
