Sporting Libson stars break their noses in tough League Cup final against Porto

- Andre Pinto and Radosau Petrovic of Sporting Lisbon broke their noses last Saturday against Porto

- Pinto sustained the first injury in the 53rd minute and was replaced with Petrovic who also got injure two minutes later

- Sporting Lisbon however went on to beat FC Porto on penalties in the League Cup final encounter

Andre Pinto and Radosau Petrovic who both play for Sporting Lisbon on Saturday, January 26, suffered fractures of the nose in their League Cup win over FC Porto.

The match went into penalties before former Manchester United winger Nani scored the winning kick for Sporting, but the club would not easily forget the injury sustained by their two players.

Pinto was the first player who got injured in the 53rd minute and had to leave the pitch considering the nature of the wound.

He was then replaced with Radosau Petrovic who also suffered the same injury only two minutes after.

But despite the injury Petrovic also suffered, he remained on the pitch until Nani scored the winning penalty for Sporting Lisbon.

Sporting Lisbon coach Frederico Varandas, who rushed to aid an ill supporter in the stands during the final, was full of admiration for his players after the game.

He said: "We had two players with fractures of the nose bone but they were two real lions."

Sporting Lisbon are currently occupying fourth position on the Primeira Liga division with 38 points after 18 games played, while Porto occupy first position with 46 points after 18 games.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo revealed he could return to Primeira Liga side Sporting Lisbon after his spell with Juventus.

The 33-year-old started his professional career with his boyhood club before joining English giants Manchester United in 2003.

After six glorious years in the Premier League, Ronaldo move to Spain to join Real Madrid where he won four Champions League and Ballon d'Or awards.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
