NiMet predicts sunny, hazy weather for Monday, January 7

- NiMet has predicted sunny to moderate dust hazy weather conditions over most parts of the country

- The agency predicted that the northern states would experience dust haze condition with a visibility range of two to five kilometres

- According to NiMet, southern states will experience sunny and hazy conditions over the inland cities during the forecast period

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted sunny to moderate dust hazy weather conditions over most parts of the country and early morning mist/fog conditions over the coastal south on Monday, January 7.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook on Sunday, in Abuja, predicted sunny and hazy conditions over the central region throughout the forecast period.

It added that the region would experience day and night temperatures in the ranges of 26 to 36 and 9 to 20 degrees Celsius respectively.

The agency predicted that the northern states would experience dust haze condition with a visibility range of two to five kilometres and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1000m throughout the forecast period.

It also predicted that Northern cities would experience day and night temperatures in the ranges of 29 to 35 and 12 to 18 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, southern states will experience sunny and hazy conditions over the inland cities during the forecast period with day and night temperatures of 31 to 37 and 16 to 24 degrees celsius respectively.

“Early morning mist and fog is probable over the coastal cities, which is expected to give way to haze condition as the day progresses.

“Dust haze conditions are expected to prevail over the Northern cities, Central and Inland cities should remain in sunny and hazy conditions while haze is likely over the coast within the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
