He is our friend - Igbo community backs Sanwo-Olu

- Babajide Sanwo-Olu, APC candidate in Lagos, has been endorsed by Ndigbo community in the state ahead of the governorship election

- The chairman, council of Eze Ndigbo in the state, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, said Igbo believes that Sanwo-Olu will fulfill his campaigned promises when he gets to power

- Nwachukwu, however, urged his people to come out en masse to vote their conscience and shun selling of votes

The chairman, council of Eze Ndigbo in Lagos state, Eze Christian Uchechukwu Nwachukwu, has disclosed why Ndigbo in Lagos endorsed All Progressives Congress candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu as their governorship candidate in the state.

Daily Sun reports that Nwachukwu explained that the Igbo community believes in Sanwo-Olu and also believe that he will fulfill his campaigned promises when he becomes the next governor of the state.

Nwachukwu who made this known in Surulere during a townhall meeting organised by Ndigbo in APC of the state, said Sanwo-Olu has promised Ndigbo in the state inclusive government when elected, while other candidates have not.

“Other candidates in the state have not made that kind of commitment to our people. Sanwo-Olu is a friend of Ndigbo and he has appreciated Ndigbo. He came to us to seek our votes, that made Ndigbo in compliance of what Lagos state and Bola Ahmed Tinubu stands for in the state as a friend of Ndigbo.

''In fact, he was given a chieftaincy title of Ugochimereze. So he has been a part and parcel of our people. All the 73 traditional rulers of Eze Ndigbo in Lagos state of which I am their Council Chairman have endorsed him as our candidate.

''You can see that at this town hall meeting that all the Igbo sons and daughters are here. We are here to reconfirm our stand and position to continue to mobilise and canvass for Sanwo-Olu.”

Nwachukwu reiterated that all Ndigbo in Lagos want is a good governor that will stabilise the economy of the state and allow Ndigbo to do their business with ease.

According to him, “We only want a governor that can harness and stabilise the economy of the state, whereby Ndigbo will do their business without any harassment, intimidation and when there is any issue, Ndigbo will go and knock on his door and he will answer.”

He admonished Ndigbo to come out en masse to participate in the voting process, vote their conscience and shun selling of votes.

The event was attended by the APC ctate chairman, Tunde Balogun, deputy governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Obafemi Hamzat, alongside the APC publicity secretary, Joe Igbokwe.

Other are the House of Assembly members Desmond Elliot and Jude Emeka Idimogu, Lagos Central APC leader, Hakeen Bamgbala, a member of Sanwo-Olu campaign organisation, Wale Adelana; Chief Chris Ekwilo, and other Prominent Ndigbo leaders in the state among others.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the aspiration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu to govern Lagos state received a major boost on Tuesday, September 18 as he was endorsed by the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, Lagos state chapter.

Sanwo-Olu who is the managing director of Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, is set to challenge Governor Ambode's aspiration at the APC primary election scheduled for Tuesday, September 25.

The LSDPC boss is the candidate of the most powerful political group within the Lagos APC - Mandate group, under the leadership of the former governor of the state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
