Arsenal eyeying a surprise transfer deal for Russia 2018 World Cup finalist this month

- Ivan Perisic is wanted in the Premier League by Arsenal on loan until the end of the season

- The 29-year-old's current deal with the Italian League side runs out in the summer of 2022

- Perisic was said to have been tipped with a move to Man United after helping his side win silver at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia

Ivan Perisic has emerged as top priority transfer target for Premier League outfit Arsenal this month.

The Gunners are hoping they can absorb the croatian, who is currently struggling at San Siro into their squad until the rest of the ongoing season.

Perisic has scored just three goals in two assists in all competitions for his side this campaign, but has recently fallen out of favour with his manager Luciano Spalletti.

However, Express quoting BBC sport man David Ornstein revealed that the north Londoners have launched a bid for the star.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in signing the winger, whose deal with Inter expires in the summer of 2022.

Ornstein tweeted that: "Arsenal have made an approach to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic. "#AFC want loan with £35m option to buy. 29yo open to #Inter exit.

"Fits plan of versatile midfielder e.g. Suarez (still possible) / Nkunku + winger. Unclear if injuries mean defender wanted but Sokratis not bad."

Man United have been linked with a move to sign Perisic twice - in 2017 and last summer but those moves failed to materialise.

And the forward recently admitted that he did consider moving to Old Trafford, before ultimately deciding to stay.

"It's true that an offer from Manchester United was on the table and I was close to leaving Inter,” Perisic told FourFourTwo magazine.

"But I decided to stay and, as I said, Luciano Spalletti's perseverance to keep me played a big role. In football, small details in these situations are key.

"Admiration from a Coach like Jose Mourinho is definitely something that flattered me. “It's confirmation of hard work and good performances.

When you're praised by a guy like Mourinho - the manager of a huge club like Manchester United - it's difficult not to think about such an offer.

"I'm glad he has a high opinion of me and these things motivate me to work hard and train hard, to achieve the best performances.
