- 1.4million residents of Lagos state are yet to collect their PVCs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, January 8, said that about 5 million Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) have been collected in Lagos so far but 1.4million PVCs are yet to be claimed by their owners.
Daily Trust reports that the spokesman of INEC in Lagos, Femi Akinbiyi, said over 6 million people registered in Lagos and about 5 million have collected their PVCs.

Akinbiyi said: “Out of over 6.5m registered voters, we have distributed over 5m PVCs and the distribution still continues."
The INEC spokesperson added that the number of the uncollected PVCs is on the high side because of the backlog of 2014 cards and those produced from the recently concluded Continuous Voter’s Registration (CVR) exercise.
Legit.ng earlier reported that INEC on Monday, January 7, raised alarm over new method of vote buying being devised to undermine the voting process.
INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this in Abuja at the presentation of the voter register for the 2019 general election to political parties.

Yakubu said that the commission had received credible information that some partisan actors were going round buying up Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from voters or financially inducing them to collect the Voter Identification Numbers (VIN) on their PVCs.
