Unsettled Man United star drops major transfer hint amid links with 4 European clubs

- Matteo Darmian has struggled for game-time under Jose Mourinho

- Top Serie A clubs including Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli are understood to be interested in the signing of the defender

- Darmian has put his future at Old Trafford under sharp focus after admitting he misses his home country, Italy

Manchester United star defender, Matteo Darmian, has dropped a major transfer hint amid rumours that he is wanted by top Serie A clubs including Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli.

According to a UK Sun report, the 29-year-old has admitted he misses his home country, Italy, thus fueling speculation over his situation at Old Trafford.

Darmian has enjoyed limited game-time under Jose Mourinho, having featured in just three Premier League for the Red Devils this season.

Despite acknowledging that he is proud to be at a top European club like United, it seems quite likely Darmian could press for a return to a Serie A side some time soon.

I must say, I really do miss Serie A and Italy now,” Darmian told Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by the UK Sun.

I know that I am at one of the best clubs in the world and I am proud to be at Manchester United, but I do miss Italy. I love my country," he added.

He is further concerned about his future with the Italian national team, but he hopes to earn a call-up from head coach, Roberto Mancini soon.

"Returning to play for Italy is my objective. [Italy boss] Roberto Mancini hasn't called me up yet, but I hope he will in future," he disclosed.

Earlier in the summer the Italian was said to be on the verge of leaving United, but possible deals failed to see the light of the day.

The ex-Torino defender can play as both right-back and left-back, but has since fallen down the pecking order since the emergence of Diogo Dalot.

Darmian arrived at United in 2015 and enjoyed remarkable spells under the then boss, Louis Van Gaal.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United star Matteo Darmian married his long time girlfriend Francesca Cormanni in an incredible ceremony in Italy.

According to report, the pair have been together since they were teenagers before they finally tied the knot in front of families and friends at a church in Rescaldina on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

The ceremony caps a memorable week for Darmian who was part of the Italy team that beat Uruguay in a friendly on June 7 before thrashing Liechtenstein 5-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Udine.
