Senator Akume urges Tiv people to vote President Buhari in 2019

- Senator George Akume says the APC has presented the best candidates in all the elective positions in Benue and at the federal level

- Akume urges Tiv people to vote President Buhari as he represents the direction of the Nigerian polity

- The senator warns all electorate in the country not to sell their votes to anybody in the 2019 elections

The vice chairman north, All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential council, Senator George Akume has advised Tiv people to vote President Mohammadu Buhari in the forthcoming presidential elections.

Akume, a former senate minority leader and two time governor of Benue, gave the advised on Sunday, December 30, at Wannune, Tarka local government during the celebration of his 65th birthday anniversary.

He said that the APC had presented the best candidates in all the elective positions in Benue and at the federal level.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Senator Akume was born on December 27, 1953.

He said at 65 he had no reason to lie to his people and urged the Tiv people to vote President Buhari as he represents the direction of the Nigerian polity.

“At 65, I am too old to deceive my people, we have seen the direction of the Nigerian politics, and President Buhari represent that direction, I advise you all to vote him in the forthcoming presidential election.”

He further warned all electorate in the country not to sell their votes to anybody, adding that they should keep same and vote their preferred candidates in the coming elections.

Akume further accused the Governor Samuel Ortom led administration of borrowing billions of money with nothing to show for it and urged the people to vote him out in the coming governorship elections.

Akume, who was recently named vice chairman, north, President Mohammadu Buhari presidential council is also the senatorial candidate of the APC of Benue north west (Zone B).

In his remarks, Benue APC governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, said Senator Akume was the indisputable leader of the Tiv Nation.

Jime said that Akume has shown over the years that “he is someone, who saw tomorrow’’adding that he has demonstrated true leadership of qualities to his people.

NAN reports that dignitaries at the event include, former deputy governor and APC senatorial candidate Benue south, Steve Lawani, APC Benue north east senatorial candidate, Chief Mimi Orubibi Adzape, Chief Titus Zam, Prof Eugene Aliegba.

Others were: APC north central youth leader, Terver Aginde, Arch. Asema Achado, Dorathy Mato, John Degh, Mr Benjamin Wayo, Mr Tehemen Tarzoor and Benjame Adanyi, among others.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has demanded that all candidates contesting the 2019 presidential election, including President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar, should undergo mental health tests.

The coalition made in a statement on Sunday, December 30, by its, spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, stated that the test was necessary in order to ascertain the mental stability of the presidential candidates before elections.

The group stated that anyone who failed to pass the test should not be allowed to participate in the 2019 elections.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
