Islamic group confirms the abduction of 20 its members

An Islamic group, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has confirmed the abduction of about 20 members of its First Aid Group (FAG).

The JIBWIS said its members were kidnapped on December 23, 2018 at Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina state.

Daily Trust reports that the national chairman of JIBWIS, Council of Ulama, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, while speaking at a press conference in Jos, Plateau state said his colleagues were kidnapped while on their way back to Sokoto State after attending the first aid camping held in Dutse of Jigawa state.

Jingir said: “Our members of the First Aid Group from Sokoto state on their way home were kidnapped after they have left Jibya in Katsina State before they enter Zamfara state,

“The kidnappers peacefully stopped them, took them out of their bus, before moving them into the bush. Their bus was abandoned and we were able to retrieve it," Jingir added.

He also added that the abductors were yet to contact the leadership of the group.

He urged the abductors, “to fear Allah, they should know that the hostages were only first aiders, nobody is paying them salary, they only render help to people.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that unknown gunmen on Monday, November 20, invaded Shendam local government area of Plateau state and whisked away the traditional ruler of Long Dorok Chiefdom.

A former councillor in Dorok community, Leo Densak made the abduction news of the second class monarch known.

Densak said the gunmen numbering over ten stormed his house at about 8pm and whisked him away to an unknown destination while shooting sporadically to scare villagers away as they made their escape.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
