Hazard, Pedro score as Chelsea beat stubborn Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 Amex stadium

Chelsea continued their impressive run in the Premier League after beating stubborn Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at Amex Stadium to maintain a grip on the top four.

The South Coast trip came in the back drop of Chelsea's magnificent win over Manchester City last weekend that ended the Citizens' Premier League unbeaten run.

The Sunday clash saw Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, field a relatively stronger side from one that drew 2-2 against Hungarian side, Vidi FC.

The Italian tactician started Belgian star Eden Hazard, dropping Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud who featured in the Europa League tie.

Hazard went on to inspire his side to an important victory that saw the Blues mount more pressure on third-placed Tottenham Hotspurs.

Pedro opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 17th minute, tapping the ball in from close range after Hazard squaring from the left.

Hazard made it 2-0 for the visitors' in the 33rd minute, with the 27-year-old benefiting from Willian's pass on the half-way line.

Upon the resumption of the second half, Chelsea kept pressing and were close to scoring a third but Hazard failed to get onto the end of Azpilicueta's cross.

Brighton pulled one back through March in the 63rd minute,with the Englishman firing past Kepa to instill a glimmer of hope for the home fans.

However, despite the hosts dominating proceedings in the dying minutes of the match, the Blues managed to hold on to secure a vital 2-1 victory.
